Reinforcements Incoming

Reinforcements Incoming

Β

Are you battle weary?

This week, my husband and I tried to be good foot soldiers.Β  WeΒ  marched toward the onslaught in support of our sister.Β  She is facing a fierce struggle, and we hoped to diffuse a couple of landmines to make her way a bit less difficult.

We spent a few hours engaged in hand-to-hand combat in the field.Β  I must admit that we felt unequal to the task.Β  When we got home, we were exhausted and rather discouraged.

I knew the war could not be won alone. Β  So, I immediately took desperate measures.

I contacted my Supreme Commander.

“Lord,” I humbly prayed,Β  “please send reinforcements.”

My friends, my Commander-in-Chief wasted no time in responding.Β  A few minutes later, a call came.Β  A fellow infantryman had stepped onto the field.Β  He had new energy and vision for the battle zone.Β  My hope was renewed.

As a solider in God’s army, encouragement should be my battle cry.

What weary friend do you know who is in need of incoming reinforcement?

Something to think about…

  1. Something like that happened last Spring with us – a big challenge – and my husband and I joined together in big prayer. The next 48 hours were amazing – with all the people he put in the path of the one we loved and just building, building to a saving moment! We are so blessed to have a God who loves us so – and who is never late!

  2. In arguably the toughest week of my life, the Lord has sent MANY reinforcements! My father feel badly a week ago, and is in the hospital. My siblings have been with me every step of the way as we negotiate his care and make decisions. I have friends praying, in my *real* life, and in Blog Land.

And, of course, the Holy Spirit arrived in full force – and we have been strengthened and upheld, comforted and guided. In it all, we have had peace…and yes, even JOY.

    GOD BLESS!

  3. Lyli – Your post reminded me this morning of this verse, “Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve him shoulder to shoulder.” (Zephaniah 3:9). Thank you for this reminder today to keep our lips pure, to call on Him & to serve Him and one another shoulder to shoulder.
Have a great Thurs., Lyli. Prayed for your situation – may our God strengthen each of you & provide all that you each need during this challenging time.

    1. Joanne, thank you for sharing this sweet verse with me. It’s been a crazy week, and I am just now getting back to respond to all the comments on this post. But, I wanted you to know that I read this verse, and it greatly encouraged me. I have thought about it several times over the last few days. Hugs

  4. A beautiful story, Lyli. I’ve seen God do that in my life and in the lives of others, over and over. But I also had an experience not long ago when I rallied for reinforcements and they took offense instead. It was very discouraging. Nonetheless, God did send troops quickly thereafter, just not in the bodies I was expecting! He keeps me on my toes. πŸ™‚ Always full of surprises.

    1. Lisa, why is it that we shoot our wounded? We have experienced some of that as well, and I must admit that it has been a humbling experience. I pray for God to give me grace — to respond to the unkind with grace (and to try to be graceful, rather than judgmental toward others in their struggles).

    1. Dolly, thank you for your prayers. We have a close friend who is in his last days. He will be home with Jesus soon. Our hearts are heavy for his wife and two daughters. But, we are very thankful that we know that our Redeemer lives, and one glorious day soon, we will all be reunited and whole in His presence.

  5. Hi Lyli!
Encouragement as a battle cry and a call for the Supreme Commander. Happy you got the reinforcement you needed. Great reminder to connect with the resources of The Source.

  6. Dear Lyli
I have found this to be so true, dear friend. When life seems to be the darkest without a ray of hope on the horizon, we can still know that our Lord walks with us every single step if the way. I love that verse from Isaiah that says that when everything is darkness around us without a ray of light, we should still trust in The Lord.
    Blessings and lve XX

  7. I love your war analogy–for we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against all the powers and principalities. Thanks for the reminder that many among us need reinforcements and assistance from us and our Commander in Chief.

  8. Praying for you friend! The older I get, the more thankful I am for sisters who will lift us up, step in, be the ground reinforcements, when the battles looks it’s worst! Hope things turn around soon!
