On the Road to Nowhere

Some days, I feel like I am driving on the road to Nowhere.  I look ahead, and all I see are obstacles in my way.  Insurmountable mountains loom in my view with no clear destination.  Danger, my mind tells me.  My whole being wants to turn around and run the other way.

Do you ever have days like that — days where you feel like you are moving forward with blinders on?  The traffic is congested, and misguided motorists are crowding you off the merciless road.

Hold fast, I hear a voice behind me say.

I must stick to the route.  I must follow Him onward.  I must cling to my compass when I don’t know which way is True North.

Hold fast.

I must tightly fasten the seat-belt of Truth and join Him on a journey.

If I don’t persist and choose instead to turn away, I will miss the Beauty on the other side of that majestic mountain.

Stay on the true path, my daughter.

Adventure awaits somewhere ahead.

Barricade the road that goes Nowhere;
    grace me with Your clear revelation.
I choose the true road to Somewhere,
    I post Your road signs at every curve and corner.
I grasp and cling to whatever You tell me;
    God, don’t let me down!
I’ll run the course You lay out for me
    if You’ll just show me how.

Psalms 119:29-32, MSG

Q4U:  How do you hold fast to the road when the way ahead is unclear?

  1. Lyli – the thoughts you shared in this post brought to mind this Scripture, which I had to stop & go read πŸ™‚ ….. “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16).

    You have no idea, how I needed to read that verse this morning. It brought me the assurance I needed to be at rest today. May it do the same for you.

    Thank you for writing & sharing this post! You have blessed me greatly this morning.
    Blessings,
    Joanne

  2. Our Navigator whispers close, reminding us of how faithful He’s been along previous journeys … helping us recall those ‘more than we ask or imagine moments.’

    Praise God we’re not traveling alone!

    Peace, peace, my lovely friend …

  3. This is where I’ve been for a few week, Lyli. I just keep hearing God say, “Patience, my love.” And I know his timing is perfect, so I keep holding on. Thank you for this encouraging word, my friend.

  4. Oh Lyli – Those blockades that try to trip us up…I can see mine even now. Some are from others, some from the enemy of our souls, and some just plain, down right my own hesitation and fear. Thanks for your encouragement! Pressing into the Word always brings life, and hope, and light for another step..doesn’t it! Thanks for sharing Psalms with us today!

  5. Lyli, what great encouragement to all of us to hold fast. The only way I have been able to hold fast is to keep my nose in the Book. That constant communication with Father is what has kept me moving forward when the way was unclear and all I wanted to do was sit down and cry! Thanks for linking up to Testimony Tuesday!

  6. My word for Lent is hold fast, a different way of ‘fasting” so your post is so appropriate for my pondering this week. Interesting to read the comments too. I love those verse from the Message. I leave for a retreat this weekend and think I will grab my Message version to take with me and reread these verse while in silence. Thanks, Lyli!

  7. God’s grace keeps me on the road. He is willing to provide it no matter how I mess up or the choices I make. Thank you for this post today.

  8. Looking to the Author and Finisher of my faith. Knowing He gives me the faith and will be faithful to see this journey to the end where the victory has already been won.
    Thank you for linking up and joining in at Words of Life Wednesdays, Lyli.

  9. One thought that gives me comfort when the future seems uncertain (really, it’s always uncertain, but sometimes I’m more painfully aware than other times) is that I am not responsible for the outcome. God knows the outcome, controls it, and it is for my good. I don’t have to figure things out or make things happen; just obey. Thanks for this reminder to hold fast!
