A while back, my husband purchased VIP tickets for a concert.  We sauntered right past the long line of peons in the general admission area and sat in the first row where we could count the number of hairs on the singer’s chin.

We decided to skip the “meet and greet,” but had we chosen to step behind the curtain, a private audience with the artist awaited.

Access brings joy, confidence, and freedom.

Here’s the thing:  I’ve got VIP access to God because Christ paid my price in full.

In Christ

  • I am dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6:11).
  • I have the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23).
  • I am free from condemnation (Romans 8:1).
  • Nothing can separate me from the love of God (Romans 8:39).
  • I belong to the body of believers (Romans 12:5).
  • Grace is given to me (I Corinthians 1:4).
  • I am washed, sanctified, and justified (I Corinthians 6:11).
  • God’s promises are “Yes” in my life (II Corinthians 1:20).
  • I stand firm (II Corinthians 1:21).
  • I am lead in triumphant procession (II Corinthians 2:14).
  • I have full access to God.  The veil is taken away (II Corinthians 3:14).
  • God’s light shines in my heart (II Corinthians 4:6).
  • I am a new creation (II Corinthians 5:17).
  • I am reconciled.  My sins are not counted against me (II Corinthians 5:19).
  • I live an exchanged life.  Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20).
  • I am child of God (Galatians 3:26).
  • I am the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:20).
  • I am brought near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).
  • I am forgiven (Ephesians 4:32).
  • I am found.  I am clothed in His righteousness (Philippians 3:9).
  • God meets all my needs (Philippians 4:19).
  • The hope of glory lives in me (Colossians 1:27).
  • I am complete (Colossians 2:10).
  • Grace was poured out on me abundantly (I Timothy 1:14).
  • I am blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).

The enemy of my souls wants me to believe that I am defeated, but I can climb right up in the lap of my Abba at any time and access His full presence, power, and provision.

All I have to do is ask.

~

God, mark me with Your grace and blessing.

Let’s Talk:  What are you going to whisper in God’s ear when you climb up into His lap?   Go ahead and ask.

I should have called her before my Skype meeting, but I lost track of time.

When the clock rolled past 6:30 PM, she started to worry.   I was in the middle of brainstorming ideas for an upcoming podcast with Holly and Diane when my cell phone ring reminded me of my negligence.

“It’s my mom,” I explained to my friends.  “She’s hunting me down.”

“Do you need to go?  We can wrap things up now if need be.”

No, I’ll call her when we’re done,” I responded.

She followed immediately with a text message.  “Call me please. Love, Mom.”

She’s getting good at the texting thing.  Wow!  Go, Mami.

Five minutes later, she called the office.  She knew I must still be at my desk.

“Friends, I’ve got to go calm down an elderly Cuban woman who thinks I am dead.”  Thus ended my Skype call.

My mama will not take no for an answer when it comes to her loved ones.  She wants to know what I had for dinner, what the doctor said at my last check up, and where I am located at all hours of the day.

She latches on with love and never lets go.

I need to transfer her spunky attitude to my prayer life.

To pray big, you need to be a bit of a busybody.

Lord, help me to be unceasing and persistent in prayer.

Tonight on Periscope, I shared some #PrayBig inspiration on how to pray with pluck and persistence:

Solid Rock

As a child, I did not excel at the game of hide and seek.  I’d always pick the wrong place to hide.

Rather than finding an enclosed shelter safely away from the evil elements pursuing me, I usually chose to stand behind a flimsy curtain where I could peek.

I had a terrible case of the “look arounds” that always got me into trouble.

Looking back, I see my foolishness.  Why would I choose to stand behind a temporary barricade instead of diving into an unshakable bunker?

Now that I am grown, my habits haven’t changed much.  I know that safe haven is available, but I often choose to stand in the line of fire.  I hide behind the thin veils of self-sufficiency, pride, and fear.

If only I’d run for dear life straight into cleft of the Rock….

He alone is my Stronghold.

Lord, lead me to the mighty, towering Rock of safety.

Tonight on Periscope, I shared some #PrayBig inspiration for those days when you feel like you are standing on shaky ground:

Let’s Talk: Do you struggle with the “look arounds,” too?  What “solid rock promise” reminds you you are secure even if the world around you starts to shake?

Lay Your Life on the Altar

I don’t like puzzles.

I learned this when my husband and I were in the dating phase.  I am easily frustrated when I can’t figure out how the pieces fit together.  Plus, my back aches from bending over, and the strain on my eyes from focusing so intently gave me a killer headache.

I give up too easily, I guess.

Ironically, my life lately feels quite a bit like a difficult puzzle.  The blurry, disjointed splotches of uneven experiences don’t make any sense to me.

I can’t see how everything fits together, and my mind’s eye cannot picture any beauty emerging.

If I try to force the pieces together, I end up confused and frustrated.

So, like a child who needs help from her Daddy, I pick up my broken pieces and hand them up to the Lord for His help.

Father, thank You for this relationship.  Help me figure out how you designed me to fit in this space.

I praise You for this season in my life, Lord.  Though the way is unclear, I know that You have a design and a purpose for every experience.

If I hold on to my pieces with tight fists like a petulant child, I may never see God’s true design for the splashes of color in my view.

Only God makes beauty out of my brokenness.

Lord, I offer You all the pieces of my life.

~

Tonight on Periscope, I shared some #PrayBig inspiration on surrender.

Hold Fast in Hard Times — Stick Together (Day 28)

Stick together
This week I was reminded that Superheroes always seem to have a sidekick.  I can’t imagine Batman heading to the Batcave without Robin at his side.

We aren’t meant to do life alone.

Jonathan had an armor bearer.  David waged war with his group of mighty men.

If the Lone Ranger had Tonto, and my Savior had a posse of twelve, why do I think that I am better off facing the fire alone?

Are you facing a giant obstacle right now? In the video below, I share an encouraging word about how mountains are easier to scale if we stick together.

Help each other to stand firm in the faith every day,

while it is still called “today”,

and beware that none of you becomes deaf and blind to God

through the delusive glamour of sin.

For we continue to share in all that Christ has for us

so long as we steadily maintain until the end

the trust with which we began.

Hebrews 3:13-14, PHI
