Push the Pause Button

Push the Pause Button

Last week, my husband kidnapped me, and we disappeared for a week.  We spent seven glorious days sailing the ocean blue free from e-mails, voice messages, deadlines, and bills.  In the late afternoon, we each plopped down into a comfy chair and watched the sun settle down for the night.  We slowed down and took a breather.

There in the quiet God spoke to me in a way that replenished my soul.  He reminded me that He has the whole world in His hands.

Sometimes we just need to push the pause button.

Something to think about…

What a blessing a getaway is, and one by the sea is an extra blessing in my book!

Lyli – that get-away sounds wonderful. Being in a part of the country where it was 14 degrees this morning–a week away on the sea in a boat is a bit much to imagine right now. A week away at all is beyond me. I struggle with the fear that there will never be a reprieve for me ever again in my life. This blind trust faith walk . . . I am so sure it is where I’m to be–but I am so weary. Praying for a change of fortunes and that the years of hard work and waiting will have their reward. A week away, though, may not be enough to mend.

What a fantastic week you had! I haven’t been sailing the ocean blue this week, but I have been in Denver on “vacation” while my husband works. We go home tomorrow. It’s been so refreshing to push the pause button. God knows exactly what we need and the exact time to give it to us.

Oh, Lyli, how absolutely wonderful! And exciting! I love that you got to spend precious time together on the ocean blue where life’s routine and struggles get taken away with the back rudder. At least for that week.
I praise God for such a time as that for you.
    Caring through Christ, ~ linda

Nothing like a few days away to be still and rest. Just like you, my husband & I have found cruises to be a wonderful way to relax. The vastness of the sea always causes us to pause & think. Glad you got away for a bit!

Love this. We gain so much by slowing down–space and silence to hear Him speak.

What a lovely kidnapping … how delightful!

Let’s hear it for a mid-winter online break … on the sea or on firm ground.
