The Perfect Password

I understand the need for passwords.  I really do.  It’s just that I have a terrible memory, and sometimes I don’t have a pen handy to jot the secret code down for future reference.  This is only a problem when the website has password requirements.  If I have to choose a password with upper and lower case letters, a special character, and a number, my brain can’t retain the complexity of it all.

I’ve locked myself out of accounts trying to remember my password more than once.  I’ve sat in front of the computer and groaned because I was denied access to information and resources that I desperately needed.

Tonight, I was reading in the Psalms, and I learned that God has a password.  This secret code allows us to enter in to a storehouse of God’s supernatural provision and power.

Enter with the password: “Thank you!”
Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
    Thank Him. Worship Him.

Psalms 100:4, MSG

Simple praise is a key that provides access to the very throne room of God.  Lord, help me to remember.

  1. Lyli, Thank you so much for all your encouragement!!! As I read this particular post, I was reminded of a recent visit with my sister and her family. She and her husband are great parents. Something that really stood out was how they praise and encourage their children constantly and give correction in a very loving manner. Here’s the connection: We are created in God’s image. One of those manifestations is that we ALL thrive on praise and gratefulness. I’m thinking that the password to the ‘inner sanctum’ of our children’s lives is through praise. Let those precious mini-me’s know you are proud of them, know you believe in them, know you think good thoughts of them, know you appreciate their efforts, know you are grateful God gave them to you, know you are their #1 cheerleader/counselor/confidant. It’s just another way that God shows Himself through nature and real life. And you know what? When we are grateful to God and others, it keeps our own spirits uplifted.

  2. At least I am in good company in the ‘failure to remember passwords’ department. I so understand that frustration. As usual, you hit on the very nature of the ultimate password hint… thankfulness. I love how you make things revelational in your lessons you share, Lyli. You bless me!
    Hugs,

  3. That reminds me… I created a password for some forgotten site just the other day. I wrote it down on a scrap of paper next to me. I remember circling it so I’d remember to add it to my iPad password app (which I got when I had to recreate a bunch of passwords after the dogs ate my handwritten list.) I can’t find that scrap. I can’t remember either the site or the password.

“Thank you” is a lot easier to remember and works for just about everything.

I’ll bet the dogs found and ate that scrap.

  4. God doesn’t ask for much does He? and yet He requires everything. And in His awesomeness He gives us everything we need to obey. Who can fault such a God? I love this quote from A. A. Milne: “Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart, it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.” Have a blessed week, Lyli!

  5. Hi Lyli, Right there with you on remembering the passwords. I have a great way of remembering all of them now…it’s a secret though, sorry. Why are their evil people in the world that we even need passwords??? 🙁

Blessings and thank you for your link up, friend.

  6. A beautiful post! Isn’t it amazing how reading The Message will sometimes bring new insights to familiar verses? I love that!

Thanks so much for hosting. I’m glad to be joining you this week.

  7. This post also made me think of Psalm 100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” There was even a song I remember singing years ago with these words, that immediately comes to mind, as well. Gratitude opens the doors of our hearts!!
